Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque among top landmarks 2016

Iconic house of worship takes the second spot on the list of global attractions, outranking Taj Mahal and Eiffel Tower.

Abu Dhabi: Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque has been ranked the world’s second favourite landmark in a list compiled by TripAdvisor.

The Abu Dhabi landmark beat iconic wonders such as the Taj Mahal and the Eiffel Tower, being outranked only by the ancient Incan site of Machu Picchu in Peru.

The beautiful mosque is located at the entrance of Abu Dhabi and is visible from the bridges connecting the island to the mainland.

Apartments win 2016 Victorian Building Design of the Year

A multi-residential development has been awarded Building Design of the Year for the first time in the BDAV Building Design Awards history, adding fuel to the fiery discussion surrounding who should and who shouldn’t be allowed to design apartment buildings in Victoria.

EME Design received the honor from the Building Designers Association of Victoria for its Artisan Apartments project in Heidelberg, an 8.6-Star energy rating building with thirteen dwellings and a sculptural roof.

Explore “Playboy Architecture” at the Elmhurst Art Museum

Elmhurst Art Museum presents the U.S. debut of Playboy Architecture,1953-1979, featuring an extensive collection of photographs, films, architectural models and more from Playboy magazine’s inception in 1953 through the 1970s. Curated by Professor Beatriz Colomina and Pep Aviles in collaboration with the Ph.D. program of the School of Architecture and the Media and Modernity program at Princeton University, the exhibition showcases how architecture and design played a role in creating the Playboy fantasy as well as how Playboy magazine came to influence the world of architecture and design.
